Bayelsa state airport The Bayelsa government and the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) are set to deepen cooperation in ensuring a smooth take off of the state’s International Cargo Airport. Recall that the cargo airport, is located along Amasoma Road, in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa. The Director General of the Bayelsa Investment Promotion Agency (BIPA) Ms Patience Abah, made the disclosure on Wednesday, during a tour of the airport’s facilities by officers of the NCS in Amasoma. The Bayelsa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has frowned at the alleged frequent attacks, intimidation, harassment, torture and arrest of its members in the state by the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government of President Muhammadu Buhari. The party accused the central government of deploying security agencies to destabilise the peace of the state ahead of the 2019 general election. A Federal High Court sitting at the federal capital territory, Abuja, has on Thursday, ordered the federal government to pay N10 million in damages to Jones Abiri, and described the two years illegal detention as outright conviction. According to  PREMIUM Times , while speaking at a judgement on Abiri’s fundamental rights suit at the court this morning, the judge, Nnamdi Dimgba, said the federal government had no right to detain Mr Abiri after taking his statement in 2016.
