Diri appoints ex-DSS boss, 33 others as aides News in Bayelsa state  Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State The Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, has approved the appointment of 34 new aides, comprising five honorary special advisers, four technical advisers, amongst others. This was contained in a statement on Friday signed by Daniel Alabrah, whose appointment as the governor’s Chief Press Secretary was also confirmed. Among the honorary special advisers is a former Acting Director-General of the Department of State Services, Matthew Seiyefa, who would advise Diri on security matters. Also, two former commissioners in the immediate past administration of former Governor Seriake Dickson, Perekiye Bruboyefe and Jonathan Obuebite, are among the special advisers. Dickson’s camp dominates Bayelsa PDP ward congress BAYELSA STATE NEWS Indications emerged on Sunday that the Restoration Team caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party in Bayelsa State has consolidated its grip on the party after overrunning other caucuses and aspirants in the PDP’s ward delegates’ congress conducted at the weekend. It was gathered that the political camps of the various aspirants in the party, including that of Timi Alaibe, who is a major frontline contender for the PDP’s governorship ticket, did not make in-roads into the ad hoc delegates’ election. "My neighbour's family members were trapped under the truck because the incident happened suddenly. People spent several hours trying to rescue people trapped under the rubble,” he said. A diesel tanker with registration number Lagos GGE 179 XP has rammed into a bar injuring five persons. The accident which happened at Duncan Eradiri junction of Azikoro, a suburb of Yenagoa, Bayelsa. It was gathered that the incident occurred at about 7 pm on Democracy Day when residents were hanging out. One of the victims and the owner of the joint, Kenneth Ighedosa, said the incident happened within a twinkle of an eye as the residents ran for their dear lives. ”My neighbour's family members were trapped under the truck because the incident happened suddenly. Bayelsa state news Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson on Monday  said  he would not impose any  candidate on his party, the Peoples Democratic  Party,  for the  November 16 governorship election in the state. Dickson spoke during a solidarity visit to the Chairman of Daar Communications, Chief Raymond Dokpesi,  over    the recent  suspension of his company’s  licence by the National Broadcasting Commission. Asked if  the  internal wrangling in the  ruling PDP would not  affect  the party in  the polls, the governor said they  had learnt from the mistakes that cost  the All Progressives Congress Zamfara State. He said, “I can lead the PDP to battle alone; I have done it repeatedly. There  will be no form of manipulation. “The people talking about manipulation are anticipating that they should be imposed. JAMB approves 160 as minimum score for admission

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has approved 160 as minimum score for admission seekers into public universities in Nigeria for the 2019/2020 academic calendar.  JAMB The decision was taken Tuesday during the 19th policy meeting on admissions to tertiary institutions in Nigeria at Bola Babalakin auditorium, Gbongan, Osun state.  The meeting, which included Vice Chancellors, Rectors of Polytechnics and provost of colleges of education also approved 140 for private universities. The meeting also approved 120 for public polytechnic and 110 for private polytechnic.  Also, 100 and above was approved for colleges of education. The registrar of JAMB, professor Isiaq Oloyede in his speech disclosed that plans have been concluded to begin open examination for students seeking admissions into tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
