An address presented by Dr. Isari Peregbe on the official unveiling of KOLGA for Sylva.
Great KOLGANS here present, my highly esteemed friends, brothers and sisters of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, gentlemen of the press, ladies and gentlemen.
Once again, my name is Dr. Isari Peregbe, the Coordinator of KOLGA for Sylva. As you know, His Excellency, the former Governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva, who is also the leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in our dear state, has indicated interest in the gubernatorial election coming up in November.
We are gathered here to inform you, to raise awareness that there is need for Bayelsans to throw their weight behind Chief Timipre Sylva.
KOLGA for Sylva is a group that believes in the development of Bayelsa State, and we are also out to address the unhealthy situation witnessed in the last governorship election in Bayelsa - such as backstabbing etc, which was displayed by some middlemen, and the result was chaotic for our great, the APC.
KOLGA loves Chief Timipre Sylva, and if not for those middlemen, political merchants and opportunists who put their selfish interests above the people's desire for good governance and the development of our state, Bayelsa would have been the dream and envy of all other states by now.
But, be that as it may, we are here to make sure that good governance is enthroned in Bayelsa and we believe that sylva is the people's choice.
The group has members cut across the whole of Kolokuma-Opokuma LGA, and we are fully on ground, we are not like other groups that exist only on the pages of newspaper. We have youths, women and men, and eligible voters who have seen things for themselves and now believe that the mandate given to the Restoration Government was a big setback to Bayelsans. Together, we have resolved to give one hundred percent support to the APC and Chief Timipre Sylva.
We have a very solid base with all indices to winning election. Our eyes are fixed, Sylva is the man to beat. Our approach will be bottom-up. The grassroots are the owners of the party and we will collapse the old order that never produced any tangible result.
Many may ask why we have decided to support Sylva, and I tell you now that it is because of his welfarism to Bayelsans. He is a true leader, a man who takes the yearnings of the people dear to his heart. He is a very compassionate man who is trusted by all Bayelsans and Niger Deltans, and even beyond.
Sylva is committed to the security of lives and property and you saw it during his tenure as Governor of our dear state.
He believes in continuity and development of our people. If you talk of human capital development, think Sylva. If you mention electricity, portable drinking water and infrastructure, think Sylva again. Above all, if you believe in the development of the Ijaw nation, focus only on Sylva.
Sylva has all it takes to move Bayelsa forward. His records and achievements are there - it is not about making noise.
Look at the education sector, when Sylva was Governor, school fees were affordable, but now, you all know what is happening in our public schools, both in tertiary institutions.
For seven years running, Bayelsans don't have portable drinking water. If you talk of security, Bayelsans can no longer sleep with their two eyes closed. And we believe that Chief Timipre Sylva can solve all these problems bedevilling the state. Yes, the answer is Sylva. His achievements speak volume.
It is in this regard that I advice you and all Bayelsans to support Chief Timipre Sylva with your PVCs in the forthcoming governorship election.
What is constant is change. We have been through this before by giving the Restoration Government a chance to rule us, and the outcome was detrimental to all Bayelsans. So, let us take a different approach by voting for the APC and Chief Timipre Sylva this time around. If you do this, I know that tomorrow, you will beat your chest and say you made the right choice.
Lastly, ladies and gentlemen, as you leave here, spread the good news to all nooks and crannies of Bayelsa.
Long live KOLGA..
Long live Sylva...
And long live APC.....
Thank you and God bless.
